Green Day Announce Canadian Dates

BY Keith CarmanPublished May 6, 2009

We've all heard the endless babbling about how SoCal pop punkers Green Day have finally finished their eighth studio album, 21st Century Breakdown, their first since 2004's monumental American Idiot, an effort that promptly reinstated the goofy power trio as one of modern music's foremost acts.

Still, to many a Manic Panic-sporting goth/punk, it seems like forever until May 15, the day it actually drops. Then again, someone will probably pirate it soon enough.

If you thought the 15th was an eternity away wait until you see this: Green Day have finally unveiled the dates/venues for their summer world tour. Not only do they meander around before actually hitting Canada but at the present time, there are a whopping seven dates. Strangely, Calgary, Toronto and eastern Canada aren't even options.

Maybe the second leg will offer something different but for now, the following cities may laugh their asses off at everyone else. Or vice versa, depending on how you feel about Green Day to begin with:

7/4 Vancouver, BC - GM Place
7/6 Edmonton, AB -€“ Rexall Place
7/7 Saskatoon, SK -€“ Credit Union Centre
7/9 Winnipeg, MB -€“ MTS Centre
7/16 Hamilton, ON -€“ Copps Coliseum
7/17 Ottawa, ON -€“ Scotiabank Centre
7/18 Montreal, QC -€“ Bell Centre

The Kaiser Chiefs will provide support on some dates.
