Published Mar 07, 2012Montreal's the Great Sabatini have been doling out a destructive blend of doom metal and stoner rock since 2007, and the quartet will keep up the sludge-minded insanity this month when they issue their fourth full-length, Matterhorn.
The six-song affair will be issued March 25 on twelve-inch vinyl and digitally via No List Records. According to a press release, the band feel they've evolved considerably since even their last release, 2011's Napoleon Sodomite, with Matterhorn being touted as the heaviest Great Sabatini effort yet. Dustin Reid recorded the album at the Black Room in Montreal, and it was mixed Craig Boychuck (KEN Mode, Kittens, Mares of Thrace).
"We've covered some new ground musically on Matterhorn and overall it's our most focused effort," guitarist/vocalist Sean Sabatini said in a statement. "Every second of the music on there was toiled over for at least two years."

The group are currently on a U.S. leg of a North American tour, but they'll be back in Canada by the end of March, with dates running across Manitoba and Ontario. You can see the schedule below.
