Published Oct 15, 2012Those excited for director Baz Luhrmann's glossy film adaptation of The Great Gatsby were no doubt crushed when the film got pushed from its anticipated holiday season release date to May 10, 2013. The wait for the Leonardo DiCaprio vehicle may be worth it, though, especially for fans of either Prince or Lady Gaga, as both are rumoured to be contributing new tunes to the soundtrack.
Actress Adelaide Clemens, who fills the role of Catherine in F. Scott Fitzgerald's Roaring Twenties-era novel, seemingly spilled the beans during a promotion cycle for the upcoming Silent Hill 3D: Revelation, noting that the Purple One and Gaga, among others, have supposedly recorded some music for The Great Gatsby, though she didn't go into details as to what to expect. One can only hope that Prince is prepping some sort of "Gats-Dance" type piece, though.
"They have some new music that's going to be added to the film," she said at a press junket [via The Playlist]. "Some pretty huge artists have approached Baz and are writing songs for the film, and I don't think Warner Bros. are going to turn down Prince and Lady Gaga knocking down your door."
Either she blabbed too much, or made a coy plant for the media, as she followed up the reveal with, "I don't know if I'm allowed to say that."
An early trailer for the updated movie featured Jay-Z and Kanye West's "No Church in the Wild" from their Watch the Throne LP and Jack White's cover of U2's "Love Is Blindness," though it's unconfirmed as of yet if either song will make the final cut.
