Grand Daddy I.U. faced the unenviable task of being an obscure figure to even the most ardent of underground hip-hop fans. Undeterred, he kicked things off with "Veteran,” his brand new head-nodding collaboration with Toronto producer Marco Polo and didn’t look back. His commanding baritone belied the tentative strolls his lanky frame took while on stage in an impressive display of microphone control. However, he didn’t get much of a response until some diehards at the front got busy to his most memorable single, "Something New,” perhaps a harbinger that heads will still be interested in just that from this artist.
