Gorillaz Title Christmas Day Album

Last week was full of surprises for Gorillaz fans. First off, the English mixed media outfit unveiled an advent calendar that dished out goods ranging from computer wallpaper to music videos to Plastic Beach-themed online games. Then it was leaked that the final piece of the calendar would host a new album, recorded almost exclusively on an iPad, on Christmas Day. Along with making all the remaining days in between seem a little underwhelming compared to that nugget of information, the early reveal also came with the uncomfortable news that the album could be the troupe's last.

Clearly okay with ruining the surprise a little more, band leader Damon Albarn kept dishing the dirt on the freebie record on Australia's Triple J radio [via Pitchfork]. An interview with the singer has given us the name of the new release: The Fall. The vocalist admitted that some non-iPad moments do exist, but the bulk of the songs were constructed using Apple's tablet.

A tracklisting has yet to pop up, so maybe there will still be something new to discover come Christmas morn. Hopefully no one spills the beans in the next ten days.

In the meantime, the band recorded some stripped-down versions of "Rhinestone Eyes" and "To Binge" while they were at Triple J. You can check the whole thing out here.
