Good Charlotte Announce Lil Peep-Inspired 'Generation Rx' LP
Good Charlotte have unveiled plans for their next studio album, Generation Rx. It's due out September 14 via MDDN/BMG.

The prescription-referencing album name partly serves as a tribute to the late rapper Lil Peep. He passed away at the age of 21 last year from a drug overdose, and Good Charlotte performed at his memorial service.

"At the beginning of the year, we were reflecting a lot," twin band leaders Benji and Joel Madden said in a statement. "We just played a memorial service in honour of Lil Peep. We were thinking of that. Our generation was the first to have so many ways to deal with pain. Throughout this century, we've seen the whole opioid crisis get worse. We wondered if we were really doing our part. We wanted to bet back out there on the battlefield and spread insight, share experience, and give anything we could to improve lives."

Ultimately, the band say the message behind the new record is: "You can get through the pain, survive it, and have the life you want."

The first sampling of new material arrives with lead single "Actual Pain," which hears the band building on their former pop-punk sound with string arrangements and heavy distortion.
