The Good, The Bad & The Queen

"Herculean”

With Gorillaz dominating the children’s music market and Blur reportedly working on a new album, you’d imagine Damon Albarn wouldn’t have time for a supergroup. But he has, and this introductory single is the strongest thing he’s done since "Beetlebum.” Recruiting bassist Paul Simonon (the Clash), guitarist Simon Tong (the Verve), drummer Tony Allen (Fela Kuti) and Danger Mouse behind the boards for this horribly named band, Albarn has redeemed his rock cred. This indolent space rocker finds each player hitting their stride, but it’s lifted mostly by that legendary rhythm section. (thegoodthebadandthequeen.com)
