Gone Bald

Exotic Klaustrofobia

BY Stuart GreenPublished Jul 1, 2005

Part grunge, part metal and part noise rock, Amsterdam’s Gone Bald are all piss and vinegar. Sounding like a melodic version of the Melvins’ dirge meets the thunderous racket of Barkmarket with a bit vocal melody thrown in, this trio’s sound is all about unrelenting and epic intensity. Although containing only five tracks, the disc clocks in at 36 minutes, largely thanks to the 16-minute title track instrumental closer, which features not only the merciless guitar, bass and drums, but horns and free-form jazz blasts. Crank it.
