Goldfinger

Hello Destiny

Sometimes long-running bands can risk becoming stagnant, or can find themselves irrelevant, as musical trends change and the world passes them by. It could be argued that Goldfinger have passed that point, or at the very least were balancing on it, but Hello Destiny appears to have put them back on track. Perhaps it’s the return of guitarist Charlie Paulson, or simply a move to the more independent SideOneDummy, but Goldfinger’s newest offering sees the band returning to the sound of their more formidable days and expanding on it, avoiding sounding redundant. The band have become more politicised of late and with songs like "Free Kevin Jonas” and the ska-tinted "Get Up,” it seems to be for the best. Maybe it’s just nostalgia for their earlier years but I dare say this is the best thing they’ve released since their debut more than a decade ago.
