Gold & Youth

'Beyond Wilderness' (album stream)

Vancouver synth-pop quartet Gold & Youth have been gaining momentum since signing with Arts & Crafts, releasing their "Time to Kill"/"City of Quartz" 7-inch and hitting the road with Diamond Rings last year. The group is now set to release their debut full-length Beyond Wilderness, and you can give it a listen right here.

Officially out on May 14 via A&C, the record features eleven tracks and is bookended by the two aforementioned songs from the 7-inch. In between, there are more "melancholy vocals, detuned synth melodies and understated guitars" to look forward to.

According to a press release, the music "evokes memories of neo-noir Los Angeles, cinematic haze and midnight solitudes" and is tinged with 1980s nostalgia.

Beyond Wilderness was produced by Colin Stewart (New Pornographers, Dan Mangan) and mixed by Gareth Jones (Depeche Mode, Grizzly Bear, Interpol), while the band cite Depeche Mode and Roxy Music as sonic influences for the set.

The band has a handful of Canadian festival gigs lined up over the summer and you can check out the details here.
