Godspeed You! Black Emperor Offshoot Pas Chic Chic to Release New Twelve-Inch

Things just keep getting better and better for Godspeed You! Black Emperor fans. The biggest news, of course, came earlier this year when the Montreal-based symphonic post-rockers announced their return and a slew of upcoming shows to end their lengthy hiatus. With Godspeed fever in the air but no current plans for a proper follow-up to 2003's Yanqui U.X.O., fans of the outfit are getting a gift from former guitarist Roger Tellier-Craig via an upcoming twelve-inch from his current group Pas Chic Chic.

Fittingly titled 12", the two-song release finds Tellier-Craig (also of Fly Pan Am) and company in expansive Krautrock territory. While tunes like "Haydee Morcelee" of their 2008 full-length Au Contraire dabbled in concise yet psychedelically luscious French pop music, the new record promises to be a bit more of a journey.

A press release explains that eight-minute-long opener "Allez vous faire influencer" shows Pas Chic Chic tipping their collective hat to Neu!, while the flip side of "Premier Souffle" and "Interlude" "explores the confines of electronic rock, building on the legacy of 1970s underground German and French artists such as Harmonia, Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk, Heldon and Lard Free."

While there is still a couple of months to go before Tellier-Craig's old band hits the road, Pas Chic Chic's 12" hits record stores on October 28, courtesy of Semprini.
