Goatwhore

Blood for the Master

BY Denise FalzonPublished Feb 14, 2012

When it comes to blackened death metal, NOLA's Goatwhore have mastered the perfect balance of death metal's blazing riffs with black metal's vocal style and anti-religious lyrical themes. On their latest release, Blood for the Master, the band pick up where they left off on Carving Out the Eyes of God, pushing their boundaries further with more of a Sodom-esque, thrash-tinged sound. Once again working with producer Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal), Blood for the Master is Goatwhore's most intense and grittiest release to date, featuring dual vocals by Louis B. Falgoust II and Sammy Duet. Catchy yet menacing riffs exude punk rock attitude and a variety of rhythms, tempos and song structures make for a completely entertaining listen. Duet's guitar work is as heavy and ferocious as ever, which is the band's leading strength, and what makes Blood for the Master a memorable effort.
