Gloria Record

A Lull in Traffic

BY Stuart GreenPublished Nov 1, 2000

It appears that Thom Yorke isn't the only modern rock architect with an interest in pushing the envelope of what passes for original music. The Gloria Record front-man Chris Simpson seems to have an equal affinity for Pink Floyd-inspired retro-experimentalism with their third EP release. TGR offer up five stirring and provocative tracks that explore the hard and soft, light and dark, and simple and complex sides of rock music with equal parts grace and grind. The textured and lilting sonic ambience makes them sound like a less whiny American version of Radiohead.
