"Before the World Was Big" on Exclaim! TV

BY Nadia RompasPublished Jun 5, 2015

Girlpool are fast-rising figures in the DIY music scene, sitting beside artists like Waxahatchee and Swearin'. Together, Cleo Tucker and Harmony Tividad produce quirky yet striking songs made up of minimal instrumentation (guitar and bass) and topped with memorable in-sync vocals, the signature sound found on their recent debut full-length, Before the World Was Big.

Prior to their Toronto show, we invited the Philadelphia-based duo to our office to perform their track "Before the World Was Big" for this episode of Exclaim! TV.

Playing on our rooftop patio with gray clouds hovering overhead, Tucker and Tividad's angsty energy shines through the gloom. Accompanied by simple complementary notes played on the guitar and bass, the uncanny quality of their sound is instantly evident in this passionate performance.
