Intermediate Level Hard-Core

Hailing from "Creepsylvania," notorious splatter-thrash monsters Ghoul have offered up a collection of punk and hardcore covers for their latest EP. Intermediate Level Hard-Core features five blistering renditions of songs by Gwar, Fearless Iranians From Hell, Willful Neglect, N.O.T.A. and Dayglo Abortions (although for the latter, they change "Proud to be Canadian" to "Proud to be Creepsylvanian"). A grand total of seven minutes in length, this blistering series of tributes was originally released on vinyl for Record Store Day in April and is only now seeing CD and digital release. For all the violence, there isn't a great deal of substance, and aside from the speed and viciousness there isn't much revisioning. Indeed, their cover of Gwar's "Americanized" even features Oderus Urungus contributing vocals. For a fleeting disembowelment, however, Intermediate Level Hard-Core is a great deal of offal-drenched fun.
