Quebec City's Ghostly Kisses, the high-drama dream pop project of Margaux Sauvé and Louis-Étienne Santais, have announced their sophomore record, previewed by incandescent new single "On & Off."
Darkroom arrives on May 17. Co-produced by George FitzGerald (London Grammar) and Oli Bayston (Boxed In, Yune Pinku), it follows 2022's Heaven, Wait.
Lead single "On & Off" depicts “a complex and tumultuous cyclical relationship where two people constantly break off and get back together,” Sauvé explained in a statement. “The lyrics draw inspiration from a revelation in the ‘Box of Secrets’ — which was the conceptual inspiration behind our new album," referring to the initiative the band launched for fans to anonymously share their most personal thoughts.
“We heard from a lot of fans from countries where they couldn’t openly love the person they were in love with for political or social reasons,” Sauvé added. “I felt that pain, identified with it in my own way, and knew many others would too.”
