Canadian Idol hasn't aired since 2008, but now there's a new vocal competition coming to our country. It's called Canada Takes the Mic, and it's headed up by none other than Wu-Tang Clan legend Ghostface Killah.

According to an announcement, "Our televised contest will be part reality show, and all competition." It's open to aspiring rappers and R&B singers (of 19 years of age or older); registration begins on April 15 and auditions take place this fall.

Ghostface will serve as one of the judges along with former Canadian Idol personality Farley Flex and a "surprise celebrity judge that will be revealed closer to the audition start date."

Audition dates and locations can be seen here. The judges will be making stops in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, Quebec City, Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto.

A semi-finalist will be chosen from each of the 10 cities, and they will all spend a month together in a Toronto house during October and November. Two contenders will be eliminated each week, with the eventual winner named on November 13.

The victor will be signed to Ghostface's Supreme Records label and will take home $100,000 in prizes.

Learn more out the contest here. Although this is apparently a televised competition, it's not clear what network will be airing the show.

In other Ghostface news, he plays Vancouver tonight (March 27) with GZA and Cappadonna at the Alexander venue.
