Ghost Apparently Didn't Know Their Album Was Coming Out

Just yesterday (May 11), we learned that mysterious hard rock ghouls Ghost are set to unveil their latest set of spectral sounds this summer as Meliora, a new full-length reportedly due out on August 21. Oddly, it's now unclear if the record is materializing at all, as the band are saying that this is all news to them.

Shortly after word of Meliora started making the rounds, one of the band's Nameless Ghouls hopped on their Facebook page to ask the "children of the world" for more specifics of said supposed summer release.

He wrote: "We are apparently releasing an album soon. Can anyone please give us the title and the release date?"

Whether or not the band are just having a bit of fun with the fans or if the album announcement was in fact made in err remains to be seen.

It's been reported, however, that the group's follow-up to 2012's Infestissumam was produced by Teddybears member Klas Åhlund and mixed by Andy Wallace (Slayer, Nirvana, Sepultura).

Rumoured song titles include "From the Pinnacle to the Pit," "Majesty," "Devil Church," "He Is" and "Cirice," which will apparently all be sung by new frontman Papa Emeritus III. It's been suggested over the years, though, that each version of the death paint-and-chasuble-covered cardinal have been portrayed by the same crooner.

Presumably more info will be unveiled at Papa Emeritus III's live debut, which takes place June 3 in Ghost's hometown of Linköping, Sweden.
