Ghettosocks celebrates the upcoming release of his new studio album, For You Pretty Things, over a bottle or two of wine, and he invites you to join the festivities and raise a glass with new mixtape We're Gonna Drink A Lot of Wine This Year, Boys. Socks trades in the treats for wine, with many of the songs (and all of the interludes) touching upon his alcoholic beverage of choice. At the same time, he also brags about shopping at thrift stores ("Value Village"), remaining true to himself ("Keep It G") and plays around with b-movie raps on "C.H.U.D. I Am," with Swamp Thing. Other guest appearances come from his Teenburger partner, Timbuktu, Twin Peaks mate Muneshine, various members of his Backburner crew and Torae. DJ Jon Deck's mixes are subtle and never flashy, while the mostly mid- and downtempo beats make for a pretty laidback release, one well suited to wine and/or weed. Another fine release from one of Canada's best in the underground, We're Gonna Drink A Lot of Wine This Year, Boys has a shelf life that should last far beyond the February release date of For You Pretty Things, which should also be a doozey, if lead single "Invincible" is any indication.
