G.G. Elvis and the TCP Band A Punk Elvis Tribute

Were it not for Me First and the Gimme Gimmes doing this for the past decade, G.G. Elvis and the TCP Band might be a far more popular one-trick pony. As is though, their brilliance and hilarity feel like previously trod ground. In essence, past and present members of NOFX, Aggression, Ill Repute and Bad Samaritans punk-up classic Presley tunes with their inherent SoCal edge. Of course the odd intro and/or bridge is bastardised, turning into a Sex Pistols tune here or a Black Flag track there. Ravaging the likes of "Viva Las Vegas,” "Blue Suede Shoes,” "Suspicious Minds” and "Love Me Tender,” the band take on all aspects of the King’s career and perform them well, even for hyperactive, super-distorted ditties. In fact, they seem much better than the aforementioned Gimmes, who almost overdo the idiocy. Amusing yet still quite energetic, A Punk Elvis Tribute is destined to be an instant cult classic. (Mental)
