Published Sep 18, 2012There are a ton of great new releases coming out this week, so make sure you head over to our Recently Reviewed section to check them out. But before you start digging, take a quick look at some of these highlights for the week.
One of the biggest releases coming out this week is Shields, the fourth full-length record by the Brooklyn band Grizzly Bear. This album continues in the same vein as their previous release Veckatimest, but have Grizzly Bear topped themselves or made a step down?
Next, Dinosaur Jr. keep on with their resurgence with I Bet On Sky, and Brooklyn's Woods release their fifth album Bend Beyond, which once again embraces their laid-back country vibe.
Following 2009's Speak of Trouble, Great Bloomers also have a new album out with Distant Fires, while the UK's alt-J come out with their debut full-length record, An Awesome Wave, which just so happens to be up for the Mercury Prize.
Lastly, taking some time off from Burning Hell and Baby Eagle & the Proud Mothers, Ontario singer-songwriter Nick Ferrio releases his solo effort Nick Ferrio & His Feelings. And for those with a pension for the heavy stuff, New Orleans doom metal band Haarp deliver Husks, a three-song follow-up to The Filth that encompasses an insane amount of hopelessness and self-loathing.
