Published May 16, 2011We all know that Mondays can be a bummer, but we've always found that the best cure for the Monday blues is a healthy dose of the newest music the internet has to offer. Lucky for you, we have your fix of the latest songs, videos and album streams in the Exclaim! Click Hear section. Here's just a sample of what you can find.
Modest Mouse are just one of the notable acts that are tipping their hat to Buddy Holly by being part of a tribute album that will be released on June 28. Isaac Brock and the gang's contribution to the project is a cover of classic song "That'll Be the Day," which they put a distinctively Modest twist on. Rave On Buddy Holly will also feature covers by the likes of the Black Keys, Julian Casablancas, My Morning Jacket and more.
Then, for a bit of collaboration, we have Wale paired up with Maybach Music Group pals Pill, Meek Mill and label head Rick Ross for new track "By Any Means," which comes off the upcoming Self Made.
In music videos, we have a new one from comedy rap crew the Lonely Island, for "Jack Sparrow," off their new album, Turtleneck & Chain. Be sure to check it out to see two worlds collide with longtime mom favourite Michael Bolton dressed up as every young girl's favourite pirate.
From one sweet songbird to the next, we also have a video from Toronto, ON singer-songwriter Megan Bonnell. The track is called "South Korea" and is one of the four songs on her new EP, MAPS, which is coming out on June 21. And while you're checking out that colourful vid, be sure to watch another courtesy of Battles. This one is for "Ice Cream," which features Matias Aguayo on vocals and introduces longtime fans and new listeners alike to the new Battles sound, which can be heard on new album Glass Drop, which will drop on June 7.
And we can't help but keep celebrating Sloan (pictured), both for their 20-year milestone and for their great new release, The Double Cross. Obviously, we're not alone. A series of tribute videos dedicated to the Canuck rockers started to make its way online last week and more are on their way in the days to come. So far we've heard the likes of Joel Plaskett, Damian Abraham, Kevin Drew and Jason Schwartzman give accounts of when they first heard Sloan, their favourite Sloan song and their favourite Sloan album. We also have a cover of "Everything You've Done Wrong" performed by Choir! Choir! Choir! and a video of a bunch of different musicians taking a stab at "Underwhelmed."
Be sure to check out these, as well as a ton of other streams, downloads and videos, at our Click Hear section.
