'Kiln Hardened Psalms' (album stream)

BY Bradley Zorgdrager Published Oct 27, 2014

Greber comprise a member of Fuck the Facts and a member of the Great Sabatini. Yes, a member each. Maybe the two-piece couldn't find anyone else willing to moonlight from their main gig, or maybe they decided they didn't really need anything other than drum and bass. But drum 'n' bass this is not; this bizarre concoction of the heaviest of genres (played by the heaviest of instruments) somehow makes sludgy grind appealing to those who would never flip off the facts.

If you've ever wanted Black Sheep Wall to play with the energy of Man Is the Bastard or thought Lightning Bolt needed a little bit more thunder, Kiln Hardened Psalms might be the hymns you've been waiting for. Lucky for you, ahead of the album's release on November 1 via the band themselves and Handshake Inc., you can stream the entire brutalizing set now on Exclaim.ca.

In a statement, here's how the label explains the album:

Hardened Psalms is about restraint, skill, emotion and the sound of two awesome dudes, one riding a bass like a surfboard, the other in a drum kit like a barrel, plunging down the steepest face of Mount Everest, sober but mad, screaming their way through the almost impassable barrier of snow, rock, trees, starving animals and unstoppable velocity.

To hear what this all means for yourself, enter the furnace via the player below and prepare to be turned to stone. Also, you can see all Greber's upcoming Canadian dates, which kick off later this week.
