Geoff Berner Preps 'Festival Man' Novel, Announces Canadian Tour

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Aug 26, 2013

Accordion-toting folk musician Geoff Berner is flexing another skills set this fall via the release of a music-geared novel called Festival Man. The book arrives October 12 via Dundurn.

A press release for Festival Man describes it as a "found memoir" that follows "the flailing escapades of maverick music manager Campbell Ouiniette." The book apparently profanely traces the protagonist's "trail of empty liquor bottles, cigarette butts, bruised egos, and obliterated relationships," but includes sojourns into the Edmonton punk rock scene and the Yugoslavian Civil War.

Included with Festival Man will be a CD tribute to Berner's back catalogue, with cuts covered by the likes of Corb Lund, Rae Spoon, Wax Mannequin and more, though a tracklisting has not yet been made available.

While September sees Berner travelling overseas for a string of European tour dates, he'll be back on native soil to promote Festival Man and more on an October trip across Canada. You can see the Canadian show info down below.
