Gentlemen Reg Signs With Arts & Crafts, Finishing New Album

Finally, after what felt like a lifetime, we can expect a new Gentleman Reg album, as Arts & Crafts has signed the inimitable fey pop darling, and after signing Constantines, it appears the label seems to be wisely investing in Three Gut's leftover inventory.

Most recently spotted in John Cameron Mitchell's 2006 film, Short Bus, as well as on the soundtrack, Reg comes firing back after a four-year hiatus. His new album, Jet Black, is expected soon, the follow-up to 2004's splendid Darby & Joan. You can hear some of the new album over at Reg's MySpace page.

Joining the roster is a perfect fit for Gentleman Reg (aka Reg Vermue), considering he has toured as part of the Hidden Cameras, as well as being a regular guest on stage with Broken Social Scene, appearing at this coming weekend’s Siren Music Festival on July 19 down at Coney Island.

About the signing, Arts & Crafts co-owner Jeffrey Remedios said, "We have been both friends of Reg and fans of his music for some time now. We’re honoured to be working with another Three Gut alumni, and are excited that this is a world-wide deal, bringing Reg’s music to all you non-Canadians for the very first time.”

Gentleman Reg will perform this Thursday, July 17 at New York City’s Mercury Lounge supporting the Broken Social Scene Presents: Brendan Canning Something For All Of Us… CD release.  Those in the Toronto area can catch him performing as part of the Summer Works Festival, August 9 at The Great Hall.
