Labour Day weekend is here, and we have new film reviews up at Exclaim.ca. For those of you not leaving the city for one last hurrah at the cottage, head over to our Recently Reviewed motion section for some tips on how to spend your weekend.

First, director Anton Corbijn (best known for celebrated rock documentary Control) is back with The American, a tightly woven action film about a hit man (George Clooney) with personal troubles and a penchant for butterflies fighting his inner demons in a sleepy Italian village.

If you feel like indulging in a rom-com this weekend, check out Exclaim's take on Going the Distance first, starring Drew Barrymore and Justin Long. Their relationship didn't pan out in real life, but see if they make it on the big screen, as they try to overcome the woes of a long-distance relationship.

Last, but certainly not least, is Machete, directed by Ethan Maniquis and Robert Rodriguez. Check it: Robert DeNiro, Steven Seagal, Jessica Alba and classic big screen bad-ass Danny Trejo star in a B-movie-style bloodbath that refuses to take itself too seriously. It follows the story of a Mexican ex-cop who is coerced into taking part in the assassination of a conservative Texan senator. If you loved Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's Grindhouse, you won't want to miss this.

Before heading out to the theatre this weekend, read the full reviews for these films and more over at the Exclaim! Recently Reviewed motion section.
