GAYNGS Count Prince Among Their Fans, Set Up for North American Tour

BY Josiah HughesPublished May 25, 2010

Minneapolis. MN indie rock collective GAYNGS have just barely released their debut album, and the fame (fayme?) is already rolling in. Relayted, the group's soft rock-inspired debut, features an impressive roster of guests, including Bon Iver, Megafaun, the Rosebuds and many others. Upon its release on May 11, apparently, none other than Prince showed up at the band's album release party.

According to a post from the perfectly titled LOL OMG! blog Pitchfork, Prince rolled up to the GAYNGS show at Minneapolis's First Avenue Theatre. According to the blog, Prince even considered joining the band on stage, but later decided "they don't need me up there." It may be hard to believe, but check out some photos here.

While the Prince cameos are far from guaranteed, you can see what all the hubbub is about when GAYNGS embark on their debut North American tour this fall. The small, nine-date jaunt includes a Toronto appearance on October 1.
