Garbage front-woman Shirley Manson has announced she will be pursuing a career on the small screen and joining the cast of the Fox TV series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

On the show, Scottish-born Manson will play Catherine Weaver, the "CEO of Cyberdyne, a cutting edge hi-tech company” and the producer of the T-800, Model 101 and Skynet, "a network of supercomputers that employ artificial intelligence in order to replace human beings as commercial and military aircraft pilots, and for the control of other military systems, including nuclear missiles.” (Thanks, Wikipedia!)

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Terminator TV series was the highest-rated new scripted series of the 2007-2008 season. And while Manson will now be showing the world why some cyborgs are only happy when it rains, this doesn’t mean she’s abandoned her musical career altogether. Her debut solo album, which features contributions by Beck, Jack White and Billy Corgan, is scheduled to be released sometime later this year.
