The game of chess has been an enduring fascination for Wu Tang Clan. Now comes Wu Chess (wuchess.com), the RZA’s new online venture, which seeks to create a virt-Wu-al community of chess fanatics. Although most online chess sites are free, Wu Chess hopes members will pay for premium training and content such as exhibition matches featuring celebrities and Wu Tang members. Most of the proceeds will go to the Hip Hop Chess Federation, whose use chess as a catalyst for community building. HHCF co-founder Adisa Banjoko spells it out: "We recognise that chess and hip-hop unify people from multiple cultural, religious and social backgrounds. These black and white squares do not care what colour you are or if you are rich or poor. The only thing they ask is that you come with your strategy, your patience and your skills.” Checkmate.
