FUZZ's Chad Ubovich Preps New Meatbodies LP

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Aug 26, 2014

In addition to touring with Mikal Cronin and slinging bass lines in Ty Segall's FUZZ, Chad Ubovich has been prepping his own psych-garage music as Chad and the Meatbodies. The band are undergoing a bit of a name change this fall, shortening their title to the Meatbodies for their upcoming self-titled LP.

In the Red issues the debut album from the outfit on October 14. The 12-song set follows a trio of 7-inch releases delivered through the imprint earlier this year, one of which being a split with Wand. Recorded in San Francisco with Eric "King Riff" Bauer's San Francisco, the upcoming full-length is described as "unabashed, unrestrained, beautiful and strange," with Ubovich delivering "riffs for days."

The record features a few previously released tunes like "Mountain" from his 2013 split with Ty Segall and "Tremmors," "Wahoo" and "Two" from the Chad and the Meatbodies EP delivered last year through God? Records. You'll find a stream of that release's "Steps" beneath the new album's tracklisting.

Ubovich began Meatbodies as a solo project back in 2011, but later expanded the live lineup to include Cory Thomas Hanson and Riley Youngdahl.
