Future States

"Heaven" (video)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished May 8, 2018

Montreal and Ottawa-based band Future States recently released their "Heaven" single, and now the A-side has been given the video treatment.

The clip takes us back in time to the advent of colour television, featuring archival footage of old TV specials and current affairs of the time, like Expo '67.

"The video is a bricolage of film from The Prelinger Archives, a weird and wonderful treasure trove of '50s and '60s ephemera," video director Brodie Conley tells Exclaim! "We used footage from around 30 or 40 different films to create a narrative that responds to the track's positive side. The video starts in black and white and blossoms along with the momentum of the song into a Technicolor world — to create a sort of 'Heaven Is A Place On Earth' vibe."
