A couple members of Fucked Up recently tried their hands at an operatic production, and now the homegrown hardcore heroes have teamed up with another national treasure for a new track called "Our Own Blood."
The song hears the Toronto punks paired with throat singer and fellow Polaris Music Prize winner Tanya Tagaq in a half-hour-long aural odyssey. Clocking in at just over 30 minutes, the song is described by the band as one for "careful contemplation."
It's mellower than what most may have come to expect from Fucked Up, delivering a steady, dreamy haze of soft and soothing sound. Tagaq's vocals don't kick in for a while, but they're as mesmerizing and show-stopping as always when they finally do come up in the mix.
