From First to Last

Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has A Bodycount

BY Jasamine White-GluzPublished Jul 1, 2004

Unfortunately, the first release by From First to Last meets all the criteria to be forgotten as generic pop-hardcore. Falsetto screeches, unoriginal guitar work and typically whiny lyrics take away from any talent the band could have displayed. There are some interesting signs, like the quirky title and musical decorations in "I Liked You Better Before You Were Naked on the Internet.” Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has A Bodycount is just not strong enough to stand apart from the sea of bands similar in genre. There are the token acoustic numbers that go absolutely nowhere and the necessary Morrissey reference, hereby certifying it as emo and completely unoriginal. I think the Used released this album last year, and even then, it wasn’t anything new.
