The seven songs that compose this self-titled release each possess their own unique strengths, as each one unfolds like a three-minute story in a musical world of its own. Acoustically centred and sounding like the kind of release that would be quite at home on a label like Three Gut, songs like the harmonica-heavy "The Train Song, exemplify the strong songwriting traits demonstrated here by this Toronto-based three-piece. The vocals of lead singer and guitarist Gavin Gardiner can be equally soft and strained, hitting hardest on the discs emotionally heavy centrepiece, "The Last Song Ill Ever Write About You Pt. II. Other tracks have a more folksy, John K. Samson kind of vibe, such as the bouncy country-influenced finale "Bright Lights.
