The Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival is gearing up for its 2017 edition, and before releasing its entire lineup, organizers have lifted the curtain on two of the headliners for this year's event in Fredericton, NB.

Colin James and Steve Earle & the Dukes will headline the festival, which takes place from September 12 to 17, this year. Now in its 27th year, Harvest Jazz & Blues is Atlantic Canada's largest annual music festival, drawing up to 85,000 fans to Fredericton each September.

"These two legendary artists are in the middle of an exceptional period of creativity and prominence in their respective genres and so it feels like the perfect time to present them to our audiences," Harvest's Music programmer Brent Staeben said in a statement.

"While they share an authenticity and a deep reverence for their musical lineage, they each appeal to a very diverse audience that has followed the twists and turns of their many re-births over their long careers. They are the perfect pair for this early announcement and to lay the foundation for the 2017 edition of Harvest."

The Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival will announce additional performers over the coming months, with a full lineup reveal coming on May 11. Tickets also going on sale at 11 a.m. AST that day, with more information at the festival's official website.
