Published Sep 03, 2013Starting with the bad news, Freddie Gibbs and Madlib have delayed the release of their upcoming collaborative EP Deeper. The good news is that it's only a week later than originally anticipated, with the effort now arriving September 24 Madlib's Invazion imprint. The pair have some even better news to report as well, having just fit their long-in-the-works Pinata LP with a February 4 due date.
A press release explains that the LP will also arrive through Invazion, and while a tracklisting has not yet been revealed, there's a ton of excess talent being crammed onto the platter. Guests expected to appear on Pinata apparently include Raekwon, Scarface, Earl Sweatshirt, Danny Brown, Domo Genesis, Joey Bada$$, Ab-Soul, BJ the Chicago Kid, Flatbush Zombies member Meech, Casey Veggies, Mac Miller, Polyester the Saint, and G-Wiz. Hopefully some song samples get sent to the public before the album officially drops.
In the meantime, the duo are previewing their impending Deeper by streaming the title track, a gruffly spit paternity-questioner driven by a soulful, strings-heavy beat. You can check it out, as well as a few tour dates, down below.
