Freaky Flow & MC Flipside/Various

Local boys done good, Freaky Flow and MC Flipside have long been at the forefront of Toronto's drum & bass massive, but despite releasing the stellar World Domination mix album just a few months back, the boys have already returned for another compilation with Keep It Live. While mostly relying on the skittery beats of contemporaries like Andy C and 4Hero, Freaky does rock the new single "Clearance," which features some dynamic live scratching, as well as his remix of a middling 311 track. But while the record sounds like a great night at the Living Room in downtown T-dot, where in fact it was recorded, the too often aimless toastings of Flipside are even more irritating at home, despite the profuse Toronto shout-outs. If you don't have anything interesting to say, might as well let the music speak for itself.
