Frank Zappa's Catalogue to Finally Get Reissued via Universal

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jun 11, 2012

Few artists in history can match Frank Zappa's enormous catalogue in terms of sheer volume. Soon, much of that material will be reissued through Universal Music.

Consequence of Sound reports that the first 12 albums from this campaign will drop on July 31. These releases account for the early years of Zappa's career, starting with 1966's Freak Out! and ending with 1972's Just Another Band from L.A. See a list of the campaign's first 12 albums below.

Previous reports suggested that as many as 18 albums would be out this month, but now those plans seem to have been delayed slightly. The rest of the reissue campaign, which includes as many as 60-plus albums, will be completed throughout the rest of 2012. Some of the albums have been remastered just for the occasion.

So far, there's no word as to whether any of these releases will include any bonus material.
