Foxygen Spinoff Diane Coffee Announces Sophomore Album

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jun 11, 2015

Foxygen have said that their current tour will be their last, but with the band's future not looking particularly bright, drummer Shaun Fleming is pressing ahead with another solo album under the name Diane Coffee. The new record is called Everybody's a Good Dog, and it will arrive on September 4 through Western Vinyl.

This is the follow-up to 2013's My Friend Fish. While the prior record explored Fleming's relocation from California to New York City, this one examines his more recent move from New York to the comparably small Bloomington, IN.

"Spontaneous moves have always helped to inspire my writing," he said in a statement. "I missed the quiet. I missed having a fire. I missed the colour green."

A press release further explains, "Everybody's a Good Dog is the first true realization of Shaun Fleming's Little Shop of Horrors-meets-Aladdin Sane vision, recorded in a proper studio with an assortment of guest artists, horn section, and string ensemble (all firsts for Fleming)."

Check out the tracklist below, along with Diane Coffee's tour schedule. The tour will hit numerous U.S. cities, plus Toronto, this fall, and there is a leg with Luna and another with Of Montreal.

At the bottom of this page, hear the grooving, old-school-style soul cut "Everyday." If you're suitably impressed, Everybody's a Good Dog can be pre-ordered on CD or vinyl here, or digitally through iTunes.
