Foxygen Return with '...And Star Power' Double Album

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jul 30, 2014

Let's hope that you have an appetite for lots more Foxygen, since the California psych-pop revivalists just announced an epic new album. The record is called ...And Star Power, and it's due out on October 14 through Jagjaguwar.

The album features a whopping 24 tracks, and an announcement describes it as having a "svelte 82-minute runtime." We're guessing that the "svelte" part is a joke. It's said to be made up of "psych-ward folk, cartoon fantasia, soft-rock indulgences, D&D doomrock and paranoid bathroom stompers."

The album is also said to feature a number of guest performers, and the vocals were cut "on a shoddy tape machine at the Beverly Hills Hotel and Chateau Marmont." And there's a song called "Cannibal Holocaust" (just saying').

For a taste of this, check out a playful video for the poppy psych-folk ditty "How Can You Really" at the bottom of this page.

The album will be available on double vinyl, double CD or digital download. Physical formats can be pre-ordered here, and the downloads can be ordered on iTunes.

As if all this wasn't enough Foxygen have an extremely busy tour schedule in the coming months. It includes lots of stops in the U.S. and Europe plus fall appearances in Toronto and Montreal. The schedule is down below.
