California psych-pop unit Foxygen were forced to announce a couple of concert cancellations today (July 30) after an onstage injury at a gig in Minneapolis put frontman Sam France in the hospital.
The group's gig at Minneapolis's First Avenue club last night was called off mid performance after France fell on stage and didn't get up. Paramedics were soon brought in to take the musician to the hospital, with the band tweeting that evening, "Sam is OK — he might have broken his leg. Show cancelled tonight."
This morning, the act added that France was about to undergo an unspecified surgery over his injury and that this week's concerts in Vancouver and Seattle would unfortunately be cancelled. That said, they hope to be back in action at Happy Valley, OR's Pickathon this Saturday (August 3).
They wrote: "Still a chance that @pickathon shows will happen, though they might be subdued performances. It all depends on healing & travel time. On the bright side, Sam will probably have a cool cane or something."
