Four Tet, Arcade Fire and Anciients Lead This Week's Can't Miss Concerts

The vernal equinox is nearly upon us, and with only a little bit of winter left, why not enjoy a little more time indoors with a nice warm concert or two? For some musical inspiration and encouragement, check out the picks for the week of March 13-19 and make sure to check back every week for more Canadian shows near you.

Anciients

Vancouver metal quartet Anciients are going to be playing a few BC shows before heading off on a European tour in support of their acclaimed 2013 record Heart of Oak in April. The band will be stopping into Logan's Pub in Victoria this week and will be following it up with a show at the Astoria Hotel in their home city the next evening.

Arcade Fire

Montreal indie champions Arcade Fire will be playing their first Canadian dates on their expansive 2014 Reflektor tour at Toronto's Air Canada Centre and Ottawa's Canadian Tire Centre. For those in Toronto, frontman Win Butler will also be DJing the after party at Adelaide Hall, where Owen Pallett and Phi Slamma Jamma will also perform.

Foundry 2014

This week, Toronto will welcome back the Foundry concert series for its second annual edition. The six-show series, which covers every weekend from March 14-15 until April 4-5 and features different electronic acts each week, will please concertgoers this weekend with Four Tet, Anthony "Shake" Shakir, Gingy and DJ Colin on Friday (March 14) and Shigeto and DJ sets from Purity Ring, Blue Hawaii and Katie Stelmanis of Austra on Saturday (March 15).

Old Man Luedecke

East Coast singer-songwriter Old Man Luedecke (a.k.a. Chris Luedecke) will be completing his country-spanning trek with a few shows on the West Coast this week, but he won't be calling it quits just because he hit the coast. After BC, Luedecke will head north to bring songs from his new Joel Plaskett-produced EP I Never Sang Before I Met You up to the Yukon for a couple of shows.

Radio Radio

Franco-Acadien hip-hop duo Radio Radio are dropping their new album El Feel Zoo on March 18, and what better way to celebrate than with an album release party in Montreal? Concertgoers will gain entry to the show with the purchase of the record (either digital, on CD or on vinyl) where they will hear the new album performed live.

Teen Daze

Having recently released his new album Glacier and a collection of B-sides late last year, BC beatsmith Teen Daze will be dropping into Victoria for a show at Felicita's Campus Pub. The show, which also features opening acts Fountain and Jons, marks his last Canadian show before starting on his European tour.

Tower of Dudes

Gypsy punk outfit Tower of Dudes will be celebrating the release of their new album Make Your Own Culture at the Lucky Bar in Victoria on March 14. In addition to hearing several cuts off the new record, fans will also be treated to performances by the Revolutionary Cyborg Wedding Band Mobile Unit, the Cavleros and Clunt & the Scrunts.
