Following Godspeed You! Black Emperor's much-buzzed-about recent reunion, we learned that the band's Efrim Manuel Menuck would be releasing a solo album on May 24. Now, we've received word of another solo set from the Godspeed camp. This one comes from former guitarist Roger Tellier-Craig, who also played with the experimental outfit Fly Pan Am. He's now performing under the moniker Le Révélateur and will release the album Fictions in June.
A collection of ambient instrumental pieces, this synth-heavy collection will drop via Gneiss Things, the label run by Steve Hauschildt. If you're not familiar with Hauschildt, he is a member of the almighty Emeralds, so his endorsement alone is good reason to give this one a listen.
Below, you can watch a video for the Fictions track "Blue Nuit," which is eight minutes of expansive drones and computerized bleeps. It eventually builds up to a crescendo that's just as sweeping as you'd hope from a former Godspeed member.
According to director Sabrina Ratté, "'Bleu Nuit' is made using video feedbacks as basic material. Through various processes of image manipulations, colors emerged from electronic light to create improbable landscapes."
