Forest Whitaker Sheds More Light on Louis Armstrong Biopic

From Daniel Johnston to Ozzy Osbourne, the film industry is so hard up for musicians to profile that they've turned to living icons for their subject matter. Fortunately for the studios, there's still a handful of untouched music legends ready for their own Ray treatment. The latest is legendary jazz trumpeter Louis Armstrong.

According to a report from our buds at TwentyFourBit, Armstrong's life will be profiled through a biopic directed by and starring Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker. The film has the working title What a Wonderful Life (obviously), and is set to begin filming next year.

In a recent interview with Empire, Whitaker gave some insight into the film. "It covers his whole life but more from a myth point of view - it's told as two different myths of the same person," he said. "I didn't know anything about Louis Armstrong's life until I started working on the piece. I just knew some of his songs - mostly his pop songs [because] in a way he became a pop star."
