For Stars

Windows For Stars

This record is a difficult one, in the sense that it's hard to figure out whether or not I like it. Some days, my ears welcome the quiet melodies and lovely arrangements that Windows For Stars has to offer; other days, I'm immediately put off by lead vocalist Carlos Forster's nasal tenor and refuse to forgive it for the duration of the listen. This teeter-totter of criticism also is dependent on what kind of listening I'm doing as well - when my ears are attuned to the hopelessly pathetic lyrics on the album, it's hard to be into the surrounding music. Simply put, For Stars hit and miss with their second album, while it is certainly well-crafted musically and deserving of a listen. Just adjust the EQ to take the vocals out.
