Footwork Legend RP Boo Lines Up New Album 'Legacy Volume 2'

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Mar 16, 2023

Ten years after putting the wider world onto his Legacy, footwork progenitor RP Boo will continue authoring his juke journey with another legend-making compilation. The Chicago artist will share Legacy Volume 2 on May 12 via Planet Mu.

Arriving a decade on from the aforementioned Legacy compilation, the 13-track Volume 2 collects material created between 2002 and 2007, "some known, some unknown" to those moved by the artist as listeners or dancers.

Of that time period, RP Boo reflects, "The footwork scene was very scattered around. [There were] very few places to see footworkers showcase their moves. Then around 2005, things started to change when the War Zone created by Wala [Jerome Williams] on the West Side of Chicago gave a platform for the dancers to come and do what they do best. Then, Battle Grounds surfaced on the South Side of Chicago where you would hear the future of footwork tracks being played by DJ Rashad & DJ Spinn."

"B.O.T.O." is the collection's first song to arrive, and you can hear the artist wind a groove around some recognizable samples in the player below.

RP Boo now shares of continuing his legacy, "What inspires me to keep going is seeing the people having an awesome time moving on the dance floor, as well as playing music that is a recognizable part of my life. I'm one with it."
