"Something from Nothing"

After months of hype, Foo Fighters have finally shared a song from their new album, Sonic Highways, as "Something from Nothing" has arrived.

This track was recorded with at Steve Albini's Electric Audio in Chicago, with guitarist Rick Nielsen from Cheap Trick making a guest appearance. It's a heavy alt-rocker, but there are a few twists and turns along the way: there's a quietly chiming intro, a couple of bluesy rock passages, some harsh six-string leads, and even a faint undercurrent of squelchy funk in parts.

Hear it below.

Sonic Highways will be out on November 10 through Roswell/RCA. The identically named HBO TV series, which documents the recording sessions in eight different studios, will premiere tomorrow (October 17).
