Published Oct 16, 2014Leading up to the HBO series and new album called Sonic Highways, alt-rock survivors the Foo Fighters are in the midst of a week-long residency on the Late Show with David Letterman. Last night (October 15), they performed two songs.
For the televised edition of the show, the group teamed up with blues great Tony Joe White to perform a full-band cover of his classic "Polk Salad Annie." Then, at the host's request, they stuck around to perform "Miracle" for an emotional Letterman.
"We've known each other for a long long time now," Letterman said of the band. "They have crossed my path in ways unexpected and expected. And, as a result, each and every year they grow to mean more to me as human beings and talents musical artists."

Foo Fighters' HBO series begins Friday (October 17), with the new LP to follow on November 10 via Roswell/RCA.
