Foo Fighters

"I Am a River" (live on 'Fallon')

Foo Fighters' new album Sonic Highways took them to studios all over the U.S., and last night (December 18), their travels brought them to the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where they played the track "I Am a River."

The tune begins as an earnest, low-key rock ballad, but even during these quiet moments, a large ensemble can be seen sitting in the shadows at the back of the stage. The arrangement builds to a hard-rocking crescendo, and it's not until the final minute or so that the backing ensemble join in, adding ornate string accompaniment to Grohl's growls.
