Flying Lotus' Captain Murphy Reveal, Andrew W.K.'s Cultural Ambassador Controversy and Rheostatics' Reunion Woes Lead This Week's News Roundup
First up, we finally learned the true identity of mysterious rap figure Captain Murphy, who's now been confirmed to be none other than Flying Lotus. FlyLo (aka Steven Ellison) let the cat out of the bag at an L.A. show on Wednesday (November 28), putting to rest all confusing regarding who's actually behind one of this year's finest mixtapes, Duality.

Also stealing a lot of headlines this week was party-rock icon Andrew W.K. First we learned he was named a U.S. Cultural Ambassador to the Middle East, only to then find out the U.S. Department of State quickly stripped him of the honour. Needless to say, W.K. was a little bummed.

Also this week, we found out Nick Oliveri would be on the new Queens of the Stone Age record and his Kyuss Lives! changed their name to Vista Chino, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds have a new record, Low unveiled a new Jeff Tweedy-produced album, and Quicksand announced a North American reunion tour.

On the more Canadian front, Rheostatics cancelled their Toronto reunion shows, Hillside Inside announced its 2013 lineup, Alexisonfire and City and Colour revealed new EPs, and Yamantaka // Sonic Titan spoke to Exclaim! about their sophomore album.
